HID converted 500's are great. A pair of quality H3 halogen bulbs are about $20-25. An HID kit is $30. I have two 55 watt conversions behind my grille and they're great.

How close would the light intensity of the 55w HID be to a 100w?
Would the larger 700 not be better due to the larger surface area of the reflector?

The 55 watt HID will be almost ten times brighter, with far less heat and less power consumption. The 700 would be better for spread, but since they are going to be mounted behind a grille it wont matter.

Any recommendations on where to buy the HID kit? Seems to be some concerns in regards to poor quality of some kits.

Almost every HID "kit" is made in the same factory in China. Zhejiang Sanhua CO. LTD. They're all the same. Buy anywhere but from DDM. They discriminate against the military and I will never purchase from them again.

lol...I got my kc knockoffs for 15 bucks a piece there for my ram and one of my golf carts...they are on sale "dirt cheap " all the Time...I agree with others who say less money spent on something that rarily if ever gets used is better than big bucks... especially if the cheaper method gets the job done... I own an old ram not because its the "best" truck out there but because it gets the job done for what I considereed a reasonable amount of money.... The repair bills and common failures after that purchase have made me question that though..

My HF lights were $36 for the two light kit and it also included all wiring/switches.
