Default diagnostic interface

What is the best diagnostic interface to use? I have a 2001 dodge RAM 1500, 5.9l, 4x4...

I want something that does more than just reveal codes and reset cell. I would like to be able to view sensor data, inflow, temps, etc...

Handheld or pc compatible, doesn't matter to me. Does anyone have opinions on this?

Lots of free software for laptops as well. Suppose it just depends on what you have. Either way, you will need a communication cable.

Have a look at PCMScan for PC.

^True, but from what I know, you need to have a OBD II blue tooth adapter. I heard Torque for android was good.

Seems prices for the bluetooth (where in hell did they get that name?) adapters are all over the board. Cheapest I found was like 45 bucks..... not much more than a good cable. I would think that the PC software would be more capable though. (not to mention easier to read......)

Still, depends on what he has. If he already has one device or the other, then that would be the way to go. If he has both, PC would get my vote. (laptop)

Android phones are Linux based off the Linux Kernel. They're a handheld computer.. My bluetooth transmitter was $6 on ebay. My phone attaches to my dash and is can conveniently display itself outright, or as a HUD against the glass.

Do you have a link to the one you bought or who the seller was? Cheapest I found on ebay were $21 from China or $38 shipped from US.
