I used to like that, My BMW has a non-serviceable transmission, meaning you're not supposed to even drop the pan, 107k miles and still on original fluid. You can't feel it shift in normal mode, slide it to Sport mode and its like a race car. That big V-8 pulls (well its a small V-8 here lol 4.4)

I like that in cars. but I want my truck firmer.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my truck with the new tranny/torque converter with the shift kit. Nice firm shifts set with "medium" springs. If the SCT will improve even more - WOW! I can't wait.

I too have the plenum repair & mod then installing new timing set, tune up kit, water pump, electric fan conversion to do first. Parts are on the way!

I'm trying to figure out exactly what SCT to purchase. Here are the things I'm doing to my truck:
1) Plenum Fix
2) Keggar Mod
3) Accel Super Coil
4) Accel Super Tune Kit (Summit Racing)
5) Magnaflow CAT
6) O2 sensor
7) Timing Chain
8) Water Pump
9) 180 Thermostat
10) MAP sensor

No new rocker arms at the present. Already spent too much money for now.
I see a tuner at Hemifever for $265.00 and another one for $250.00. There are some cheaper and there are some more expensive.

I have seen bad reports on the accell coil. Short service life......

Why are you replacing the map sensor?

Talk to Hemifever about what you want/need. he will set you right up for a good price. You can PM him right here on this site, or, email him from his website.

The one for $265 is the one you want it comes with the tuner and a set of standard tunes which work with close to stock applications, the $250 is custum tunning and no tuner, you have to already have the tuner for that

Why am I replacing the MAP sensor? I'm replacing it along with some other sensors around the intake. For the importance of the MAP sensor, do a search on map sensor and there is a good deal of information on it.

What is about the accel super coil that makes it bad? What others do you recommend?

That's what I was thinking on the tuner. I will get the one for $265.00. Thanks.

Map sensors are probably one of the most dependable parts on these trucks. I don't think I have seen a thread yet where the map turned out to be the problem. There just isn't a lot to go wrong with it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. (and yes, I am well aware of what the map sensor does. )

Unless you are doing something really odd with your ignition system, stock replacement coil will be more than adequate to the task. Not really sure what aftermarket companies make a GOOD performance coil......

What about the accel super tune truck kit from Summit? That's what I had planned on getting. Anything better or do I even need high performance? Is it going to do much for me? Maybe I should use that money to purchase the rocker arms instead. What do you think? Thanks.

Seems the tuneup kit from accell is actually pretty popular, and well accepted here. (I assume that is the brass terminal cap, rotor, and wires??)

On a stock motor, there really isn't any need for "performance" coil. Better plug wires, cap and rotor is all you really need. (which the accell kit has.)

The HS 1.7 roller rockers (non-adjustable) are a good mod for a bit more power. That one is pretty popular here too.
