Default Compression Test Results

So I was bored the other day and decided to check the compression on my 360. My lowest reading was 132psi and highest was 150psi. I thought those were pretty decent figures for 196,000 miles?

Great numbers for that mileage. That was dry I assume? Did you follow with the wet test?

You must have been REALLY bored.....

Yup, that was dry. Good enough for me I figured, so I never did a "wet" test.

No problems whatsoever. Original owner, original motor, trans, diffs, tc, you name it. Even the plenum gasket hasn't been touched. I have done oil changes myself every 3K, and when you add that up, **** , that's a lot of oil!

For them mile's your doing great. I'd bet if you tore it apart the cylinder wall's would still be showing the crosshatch pattern. Excellent.

buy a compression test gauge, remov your spark plugs, unplug the coil, pull fuse #9.

Hook up test gauge in place of a spark plug, turn engine over and check results on gauge.

Jot them down the psi plus the cylinder number, and do all eight.
