99 Ram Won't Start Please Help!
Hello everyone,
I drive a 99 Dodge Ram 1500, 2wd, approx 240,000kms on a 5.2L v8.
My problem is, it won't start.
It ran fine yesterday then went out today and won't fire up.
No engine lights,
Fuel pump makes the starting up noise,
Checked battery,
New spark plugs/wires (last year)
New distributor cap/rotor (today)
Checked for blown head gasket
It cranks but won't fire up.. it's like there is no compression?
Anyone have any other ideas? Please help!
A friend said it could be the timing chain? But hoping to have easier/cheaper ideas that could be the problem.

If fuel pressure checks out, find out what you are missing....... verify spark, and, grab a 'noid' light, to check injector pulse. (its a little light that plugs into an injector connector, and will flash when that injector is fired. should have 'em at the parts store.)
Good Luck.

After putting on the new Cap and rotor and letting it sit, i went out in the morining and it fired right up
first off im sorry to steal your thread, but im glad you solved your problem
ok my 97 ram 1500 4x4 5.9v8 with an auto 46re
this thing had tranny problems shortly after i got it, so i pulled the tranny tore it down, replaced the direct clutch sap ring and the 3-4 accumulator spring, blah blah them i put the tranny back in, double checked everything filled the tranny and commenced to work the fluid through the transmission to see if i had done my job correctly
well it wouldn't start, so i started checking things
firts things first, the fuel pump kicks on and i get a pulse at the injectors
what i am n ot getting is a spark to the plugs, so i voltage checked the wires going to the coil, i get about 11 volts to the one wire, nothing to the other so i am assuming it is a ground ? the voltage stays and then goes away when i crank the motor over, so i need some assistance lol.
i thank anyone in advance for their help
