Default Fuel pump problem?

Ok, so i have a random skip when im driving. Does not matter if its worm or cold. It only skips once and then goes away. Every now and then it will stall in a parking lot, it will skip once when its just idling and the rpms seem a little higher than normal, fluctuate between 900-1000 rpms, worm idle. There is no cel and i just did cap, rotor, plugs, wires, cold air intake, pcv valve and threw a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in it, but it still skips every now and then.

Now for the wierd part, when im sitting in a parking lot for 20-30 mins, just listening to the radio with the key in the start position, but not running, i can hear the fuel pump turn on and off a bunch of times and then when i go to start it, it takes like 3-5 sec to start. But every morning it starts up fine. The fuel pump relay, when i looked at it today, the black cover was off of it and i dont know if a relay could make the truck act like this, or if maybe the fuel pump is on its way out. thanks

Pull the key back to ACC not forward to RUN. 30 minutes with the radio and the whole truck on your killing your battery.

i know that but still why would the fuel pump keep turning on and off. And that wouldent explain the high idle, about 1000rpms, and the skipping.

Yes it would. Low voltage makes the pcm do funny things like not starting right away high/low idle rough idle sputtering relays clicking on/off need i go on. If indeed a relay is exposed to the element it needs to be replaced.

just the only thing is it can sit for a couple days and start right up, and when i start it up it will idle normal, then i drive it and then it immediatly starts to rev at 1000rpms all the time. The battery does look old and theres some corrosion starting on the positve terminal, both on the the battery posts and on the positve battery cable were the cable connects the the metal piece that goes around the battery post.

and the battery voltage gage is about 14.7, its always above 14, unless im just sitting there listening to radio, ofcoarse. It never cranks slow.

and the only time it takes longer to crank is when i hear the fuel pump turn on and off a bunch of times, like it pumping to much gas for quick start.

Maintain your rig or keep convincing yourself its not the problem. The choice is yours? Really, old battery with corrored post's possible wires with an exposed/damaged relay.

Clean the battery terminals really well, and see if that doesn't help any.
