So some 3500 springs and an add a leaf and you get 3 inches of lift? Seems like a cheap way to lift a truck.

A shocks a shock. If the dimensions are right, and the mounts match, it will work.

Why wouldn't you need to change the shocks if your lifting the truck 2-3" ?

The limits of the rest of the suspension system might be more restrictive then the limits of the shock. If your bumpstops bottom out before your shock does, and if downtravel stops before the shock hits its furthest extension, your good.

A lift does not always require a shock replacement. When you review some lift kits, depending on their height, they will include shocks. Typically in the 2-3" range, stock shocks are still good. However, YMMV given what other things and condition of your suspension.

It is a good idea to be mindful of your shocks especially if you are still using the original OEM ones. They are not necessarily bad, but given the age of all our 2nd Gens...most of them are shot to hell.

I just put new shocks on 3 months ago and have the off road edition and thats why I was wondering because im sure they are close to maxed out and if I add another 2" they def would. I have a plow so I wanted to do this.

I think off roads are already 2 in higher than a reg. 1500, so the diesel springs probably wont give you more than an inch of lift, if that
