Default swapping in an nv3500 in place of 46re

I am looking for people who have done this swap.

Currently the transmission is in the truck the splines on both trans is the same and bolts right up to the transfer case. the nv3500 is about 1/2 inch shorter so there are no drive shaft issues. mechanicaly this swap has been an absolute breeze.

as i get into the wiring i would like to know from those who have done this swap. what changes have to be made to wiring to run the auto pcm. May change this all later but right now just need it to be streetable codes do not bother me let it throw em. i have bought the manual trans crankshaft position sensor but have not confirmed if plugs are the sam

i actually found the nv3500 about an hour from my house on ebay. It is Brand new never been in a truck before. i so far have well under 2k in this swap and from the looks of what it would take to get a 46re to last id say I'm getting off much cheaper. have pulled entire truck down for a thorough cleaning and leak inspection while in process. a few mild upgrades. Kegger mod' headers relocating iat ay poor man trick i can

You should post some pics! Did you find a donor truck or just are you getting everything else at a junkyard?

as far as codes go to the dealer pay the 60 bucks and have the pcm reprogrammed. and for the tranny swap ypu may want to think the drive line because the nv3500 is 2.87 inches shorter then the auto. this mean that the rear shaft is not in the output shaft of the transfer case all the way. there is a differance between shafts. ( if need be check with the local parts store. and they should be able to get a total measurement) other then that sounds like you did it. its a basic bolt up. done two or three. hardest thing is having to cut the floor board is the hatch isnt there. (older models)

you sure you aren't mistaking the dakota and ram nv3500 trans cause sitting side by side there is little to no difference in the spline mesh def not almost 3 inches diff
