im at the end of this swap on a 2001 sport 318 NV3500.drive shafts, crossmember, transfercase are all the same length, ive set everything side by side, crankshaft positioning sensor is different from auto/man.
The input shaft on the auto transfercase is shorter than the one in the manual,i was able to swap these out along with the input bearing. The pilot bearing needs to be one with a sleeve, the simple needle bearing alone that came with my LUK clutch kit wouldnt work.
my big problem at this point is my speed sensor, the auto is in the trans(2 prong connector),the manual is in the transfercase (3 prong connector)need to find schematics on senor connections for each pin.

Grab the factory service manual from the FAQ section here. It will have the pinouts you need.

Yer right. They don't differentiate between manual and auto at all. There is nothing there about the manual being different. The PCM only shows two wires that it cares about as well....... I don't know. You will probably have to trace the wire to where it goes......

Or, just hook up the two the PCM DOES care about, and see if it works......

I'm pretty sure the speed sensor is in the rear end, dodge stopped putting them in transmissions in the early 90's.

But if it is like a 47re the 3 wire plug is simple the outer 2 wires are backup lights, the middle wire serves 2 functions, 1. is a neutral start for a automatic, and 2. sends a signal back to pcm that the vehicle is in gear so the cruise control will work,so it has to be grounded (park) to start and ungrounded (drive) for your cruise to work.

Well the truck has been done now for several months,so far with no problems or check engine lights, still using auto pcm and everything but my cruise works, which even that is an easy fix,the middle wire from the 3 wire plug needs to be routed back to the switched side of the clutch safety switch.
The auto starter was reused with a spacer and longer bolts, got a manual front drive shaft, reused the old rear drive shaft by cutting it down 5 1/2 in.
total time was about 12hrs.
I have my old tranny, transfer case and other parts I took out if anyone needs anything oh minus the tranny lines I ended up cutting them to get them out.
Actually thinking of selling truck to get a newer one but darn I went from 18.5 to 23.1 mpg doing swap my email is simidrm45844 at yahoo.com if anyone needs parts or have any question on doing swap.
