Which TreadWright Pattern is best for gas mileage / towing / highway driving?
For the "offroading" I do, Either will work. I'm getting the 285/75/16s to put on my stock wheels. The Guard Dog M/T SAYS its for on-road driving, but the Warden seems to have my contact space and less aggressive tread pattern, and looks like my old pro comps, so which is better for what I need? Gas mileage, Highway Driving, Low Noise are what I want (I know that doesnt equal 33s...)
Load rating D should be fine for max 4000 towing (total- Ds are good for over 3k each) (Old ones were C...)

Theres been plenty of discussion on this forum about whether retreads are good or not- this is not the point of this tread, instead it's which tread is the right one to go with for my needs. Thanks a lot!
Addition: I'm also considering the 265/75/16s but worry they will be too small (31.6). The tread patterns better and they are rated for 7" rims... I used to have 35"s, and now i'm down to 245/75/16s s and they look funny...

The Warden pattern is basically a BFG All Terrain tread. They will be reasonably quiet, good all weather traction, will wear good, and, you can even request getting them on BFG A/T carcasses.........
Thanks Hey You... Now I'm second guessing treadwrights all together. 526 Shipped + $100 installation here = $626, or just buy Yohohama geolanders for $610 installed? I hate tires, but mine are dryrotting to hell. When I get frustrated I end up just going to a store and saying "Tell me what to do", so thats what I'm leaning towards now... lol...
I've heard bad things about the yokos, so I think I may go with the treadwrights with the BFG/Wardens. that makes the most logical sense and you kind of support it. Thannks! Your always so much help!

If you have identical tires and the new tires are the same cost go new.
Those yokohamas are probably less aggressive hence the lower cost, its not an equal comparison. If you don't need the off highway performance get the yokohamas. The less aggressive tread will be quieter and get better mileage too.
Many people are scared of retreads so selling your truck may be difficult.
I have the 285/75/R16 D Guard Dog tires. I needed/wanted a mud tire so they were a great deal $600 mounted vs close to $1000 for new mud tires. My milage went down (7city 12 hwy hand calculated and recorded every tank, was 14.5 highway with 225/75/R16 street tires) and they are loud with the windows down, but I have not gotten stuck and pulled a 25k pound truck up a slope in a snowstorm (truck was stuck, tractor couldn't pull it out) on the farm and tow loaded (8000lb) trailers out of two feet if snow so I am very impressed with them.

What I've heard is you just call them up. May be a little delay, but I'm not really in a rush. don't drive the truck once I tow the boats up to the lake until winter.
I'm going to go with the TW BFG knock-offs. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
How's anyone even going to know they are retreads? Its a truck I'll sell for 2500-3500 in 2 years. Ive owned 28 cars in my life and never once has anyone even looked at the tires more than a quick glance...

you can tell theyare retreads....look at the side wall towards the tread, you'll see where it was put together.....Miami_Son had the bfg knock offs and he said he had no problem with them on his v10...
They are getting better at putting them together so its not as easy to see a seam on the side. They really look alot better than they did a couple years ago. The biggest giveaway now is that they have the name Treadwright molded on the side of the tread.
the guard dog is a good overall choice have run mine now 2 years , they are fairley quiet on street and if off road they are good light mud , they do pack somewhat in deeper mud , are excellent on snow and ice , the quality is very good and if your on a budget , they fit the bill , now saying that if money was no object would i buy them again ,, no but please read carefully when money was tight for me personally they were and are the best bang for the buck ! i would rather have a different tread for what i do mostly farm duty , but when i can buy a set of 4 have them mounted with not much weight !! for the price of 2 of the other brands then they are a good buy , hope this helps wv ram
