Default Factory Trailer wiring connector

Does anyone know if a 1996 1500 without the towing package has a factory trailer wiring plug located in the rear of the truck and if so where is it located and what does it look like? Thanks in advance.

Probably not there. However, it is a real possibility that you could just order one, and plug it right in...... I think there is a connector at the back of the truck, for just such a purpose.

That is the connector I was talking about. I looked all underneath the truck and can't find anything. Do you have any idea where to look and what it might look like?

Just be a multi-wire connector somewhere before the harness splits to the separate sides. If you have already gone a-lookin', and didn't find it..... it may not be there..... I can have a look under mine in the morning. Its cold and dark out right now......

Thanks HeyYou, I would appreciate it. I looked but it's tough when you don't know what you are looking for. My truck has a connector wired into it but it is a complete butch job and I want to redo it the correct way. Either with the factory plug or with a t connector.

There is no such plug, the factory just T's off the existing plugs that go to each light.

Went out and looked.... mine has pigtails off of the 7 pin trailer connector, that go to two connectors, about eight inches from the trailer connector. That section of harness runs about two or three feet, into the main rear harness. So, perhaps the rear harness is different between trucks with the two package, and trucks without.....
