I'm going to shoot this truck ... 9mm NATO style!
Woke up this morning and walked outside to see a 6"x6" pool of ATF+4 on the ground underneath my truck. I creep underneath it to see that it looks like transmission fluid is leaking out of the front of the bell housing. At least, that's what it looks like. The bottom of the pan is soaked with transmission fluid, and it looks like the fluid migrates all the way back to the yoke. I check my fluid religiously and I haven't seen a loss of fluid until today. I love this truck, but I think I'm at wits end with it ... it's just one big never ending issue with it. First the rear end is blowing chunks, then the water pump, then the plenum gasket, then it's the PCV valve, and now it's probably the torque converter leaking.
Is it illegal in the state of Ohio to shoot a vehicle in your driveway?

What's your take on it? I can post pictures if need be. If it's leaking out of the bell housing I won't be putting any more money into this truck and I'll just drive it till the trans blows up. I've about had it with this truck.

id say it might be the front pump seal, i had the same problem on my old camaro. that might be your first thing to look at, if it is the pump seal, its a real easy/ cheap fix, and yes, i think it might be a little illegal to shoot a gun, especially in mentor, cops will be on your *** in about 2 minutes.
you live about 5 mins from me let me know .. i gotta a ton of 40cal hollow points...

haha, .40 cal would be quite a bit more fun. Would it help if I took pictures? I obviously don't see leaking fluid, and I don't plan on laying out there for a few hours to watch for drips, lol. I'll probably take pictures anyways ... if it was leaking from the pan, how realistic would it be that it could go backwards up the transmission bell housing? I guess anything is possible with this truck, rofl.
PS: 84k miles, stock transmission. Don't let the miles fool you, the guy who had this truck before me seemed innocent, but from the looks of the differential housing and other various things that I didn't see until I tore into this truck, he must have been a butcher in another life. Plenty of shade tree fixes that I didn't catch even when I put it on the lift before I bought it. (No leaks were seen when I bought it. Short of a small coolant leak from the bottom of the return coolant line. That's fixed now, btw.)

Pictures ... as you can see, it looks like it's leaking out of the front of the bell housing. How in the world could I have been checking the fluid (level ground, operating temperature, in neutral ...) and it hasn't dropped any since I've bought the truck, but yet it has that much transmission fluid all over the place? When I had the truck up on the lift it had the murky crud on it, but it was all completely dry and it certainly didn't look like that ... any pointers?
PS: I know FRAM filters suck. I got it for free from my friend's shop, so I wasn't going to look a free oil change in the mouth.
