mostly i'd imagine you'd want to correct the pinion angle more than anything.

Its nothing you NEED. Hell, I have seen guys run a 5" BDS shackle flip without zero rate blocks. The axle is off center by more than two inches and doesn't seam to pose any issue.

The only thing I would be worried about is looks, and that is apparently not an issue as it is hardly noticeable.

Measure your pinion angles, and see what they look like. Take it from there.

Procedure is documented, with pics.... which is a good thing... in the 01 service manual. You can download it from the FAQ section here. Starts on page 3-4.

That said....... I think it is a lot of headache for no reason. You are rotating the axle in the SAME arc that it moves in from the factory. If you aren't getting any binding, or odd vibrations, it really isn't a problem.

Its not on the same arc. Flip only lifts the rear shackle not both front and rear therefore its no longer on the same plain as factory. Raise just the rear shackle and the pinion raises up few degree's. I tell you what go over to ps or pirate or call a local off-road shop see what they have to say about it...Hell just google shackle flip and every one of those forums will tell you to install a zero.

Does it look like its that bad? I dont have an degree finder, but eyeballing it, it looks in line. Unless it needs a degree or two difference

Looks to be straight inline(hard to tell from the angle of the pic) which at rest it shouldnt be. Pinion should be slightly down few degree's. Why? As you step on the go pedal the pinion want to move up and if in a straight line the pinion is no longer equal (but opposite angle) with the tranny output shaft. Iam done with this one do what you like.

Jeesh, just quickly running numbers through my head as I read through your post I knew you were way off. Next time you should probably get the calculator out. Pff
