Does anyone know the approximate failure rate on the plenum? My truck has 173K miles on it, and shows no symptoms of the plenum problem. It is in the shop getting a new tranny, but when I get it back I am going to check the plenum and upgrade it if it is stock.

Failure rate? All of them.
It just depends on how the truck is driven sometimes. If the PO actually was aware of what his truck did, the plenum has usually been replaced at least once before you owned it.

Theres a member here who sells replacement plates on ebay for $55~. Should be a link in this thread somewhere, for both actually. Get a fel-pro intake gasket set and new bolts and you'll be good to go.

Stock is 195 degrees. Unless you're running an aftermarket tuner calling for a lower temp, just stick with a 195. Get a stant super stat.

Not a problem , take a dig through the whole thread and you'll find the links to doing the plenum cheaper. I ended up just buying Hughes kit for a little more money but got everything I needed in one package.
