Patt I sent you a message last night. I didn't know that you were still watching this forum. Anyways going back to your troubles with the broken off extractor (page 63?). I am in the same boat. I got one bolt out with the extractor but it snapped while tackling the other bolt. Both are at the front corners. I have working on it so much the now it looks like a weld blob in the hole. What was your solution to the fix? I have never used a hilocoil so don't know much about them.

Hey You, In the photo (642) that you posted it looks like you JB welding the bolt hole and then also blocked off the cooling port. Is this correct or what was the finished fix you did?

I was thinking about cutting the head off of one of the old IM bolts and JB welding it into the hole and using it as a stud to bolt the IM down. Not too sure about this though.

Any suggestions?

My screws were soaked so much with oil I had no trouble getting any of them out... One was a little sticky because it was bent (how I don't know...). If you have the right drill bit and a good drill and steady hands you can probably drill it out.

Sure do.... Other ones will rip your bolt out cause the threads are right handed... Thus the need for the left-hand drill bit. MAKE SURE it is slightly smaller than the bolts size, to allow room for tapping. If ur lucky the tap will find the original threads and then all u will be doing is cleaning them at that point. Also be sure to take a punch and make a indent where the CENTER of the hole will be... SO that the drill bit's point will catch it and work great then... I have fixed muffler bolts and other bolts this way, and it is always as good as factory.

Attachment 17411[/ATTACH]Thanks guys...It took awhile but I got it out. I ended up grinding it out with diamond point dremil bits. Anyways I am putting everything back together. Wow the 72 inch pounds of pressure seems awfully light. But have another question. Does anyone know what this plug is for? I can't find where it goes or what may plug into it.

Thanks

Ok so it's on the drivers side just in front for the dizzy but can tell. I think the other two pix were better (sorta) but those are no longer viewable?
I can tell you it's not a vac line. That would be a tupe/hose of some type. Maybe repost those othere two or better yet new ones..No CEL huh?

hey Patt, Here are the photos again. The location is right behind the distributor. The white line coming out the same location is a vacuum line. Anyways someone has got to be in the middle of a tear down that can help out. The truck a a 2001 1500 quad cab 5.9L.

Thanks.

i would guess it is a vacuum line. could be for anything since it is back there. i think you might have to download the 2001 service manual in the FAQ section.
