No offense, but I have no idea what a "sticky" is??? I was looking for info. on replacing a Plenum Gasket on a 2000 Ram. I followed a "sticky" link that led me to here. I am older with health issues and not that computer savey. I am looking for help. Sorry if I came to the wrong place!

Actually, you are posting in the correct thread. "Sticky" means it is always on top. If there is more than one 'sticky' thread, the one with the latest reply is on top. LOTS of good info in this thread, have a read thru it. Should tell you more than you really wanted to know.

The 5.9 in the TJ has gotten around 11 mpg the whole time after I built it. Tried everything except redo the plenum gasket. Noticed oil in there. There's about 25k on it over the 6 years I've had the Magnum in it. Awesome.

Gonna make a plate this time. Anyone weld one in? I can't think of a reason not to. Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I think my problem is that I have been reading so much that I am now on info overload. I plan on using my truck for about another year when I probabaly will not be able to drive anymore. It is senseless to by another vehicle. My Ram has been a problem since I bought it starting with the Dashboard dissolving and caving in. I look forward to replacing the Plenum Gasket (Hughes kit was delivered today) But now I read about a "Death Flash!" and according to the lable on my PCM it says "Factory Authorized Software Update..." It is all so frustrating

It's an age thing!

I removed the Plenum today. I think there was more oil in there than in the oil pan. My big problem now is that two bolts snapped on me. The first one by Cyl. 2, and the last one by Cyl. 8. Each has about 3/4" sticking up. Because of the angle it's impossible to get vice grips on them. Looks like I'll have to take the Head off.

Dig the dirt/grit out from around the base of the bolts. Soak them with PB blaster a couple times. You should still be able to get some vicegrips on the bolt, you just won't be able to get much of a turn out of them. Wiggle 'em back and forth, while tapping on the end with a hammer, they *should* eventually..... break loose, then you should be able to just run 'em out.

Your advice was 100% Right on! I didn't think it would be possible to remove the broken bolts without taking the head off. You made me a Happy Camper. Thank you.

Yee HAAA!

Glad it worked for ya. MUCH less hassle that way.

I read from Dec.1936 to Oct. of 2012 and never saw this question asked.

Why wasn't this plenum fix a mandatory recall?
Seems the bean counters should be held to task on this extremely poor design that seems to always cost the Dodge Ram Gen.II owners, especially the ones that unscrupulous repair shops see coming from a mile away.!!
