Why wasn't this plenum fix a mandatory recall?
Seems the bean counters should be held to task on this extremely poor design that seems to always cost the Dodge Ram Gen.II owners, especially the ones that unscrupulous repair shops see coming from a mile away.!!
They did. It's called the death flash. They just pulled a crap ton of timing from the engine to stop the pinging.

Default Catalytic Converter Gone

Could a removed Cat. be an indicator that my new to me 96 Ram V6 3.9L plenum has not been repaired?
Or just the other way around?
Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm going to pull breather back off yet again to try the magnet on a stick trick today.
Oh joy to be climbing into my engine yet again!!

Sounds like something I am hoping hasn't been done to my vehicle. I had planned to get the two factory recalls done as well as any PCM upgrades fixed while in the dealers shop sometime soon. Something is telling me to avoid this at all costs! Any input? I hope to find a repair shop to do this for a reasonable price if the magnet sticks.

Sorry for this and other " "Double Posts" in my past postings as well.

Skip the PCM updates, get any other recalls dealt with.

Look on the PCM, see if there is a sticker "Authorized Software update" or some such, and a date. That will let you know if you already have the death flash.

Default Hows my plenum?

Cleaned my TB and tried to get a good look in there. Here is a pic. Doesn't appear to be any fresh oil, however it looks like there are deposits or residue in there. Think its a good idea to do my plenum. Truck is a 5.9 with 230k. Probably should be done regardless.

Is there still any good place to get the upgraded plate or is it wise just to open up the wallet and order the Hughes kit? I am well over due on the Durango and the new (to me) Ram.
