Default sport body mods

I ve searched and searched and searched, just about to the point of my eyes bleeding. I know that my 2001 sport has some different front end pieces such as my plastic bumper cover, headlights and grille. However I want to mount a winch and have come across a few that say "except sport". Im wondering will these fit if i cut the bumper? ive found mixed answers through many searches.....if I cant then I think my only winch mount option is a new bumper or a mile marker extreme mount. Thanks for any help guys!

Put a couple of pieces of angle iron between the frame rails, cut a hole in the bumper, and mount the winch behind the bumper. Problem solved!

or, get a remote mount for the winch. (plugs into a receiver hitch.) and get a front mount receiver.

Everyone says there no room behing the bumper to mount a winch. I used to have the reciever mount on my dakota....I just hate that fact that the winch is so exposed if you leave it on, My other concearn with the reciever is how low the winch may sit depending on how the reciever sits......Now if smittybilt would release the black box then, Id be in business

Who is everybody? I bet you could mount it there, just get creative, like turning the winch upside down.

That black box thing is pretty cool. But its kinda ugly, and I bet the price will be stupid high when they release it.

wouldnt upside down make the controls hard to get to though? That always concereed me with hidden mounts as well. Thanks for the ideas btw! Im thinking that some 1/4" plate bolted onto the frame may work. Now as for mounting on the frame, is there any place that it should be mounted or is anywhere good?

The controls would be in the cab or in your hand.

Actually mounting the winch upside down would work really good as the free spool would be accessible from under the truck. If the winch was right side up you would have to pop the hood or cut a hole in the bumper to get the the free spool.
