I had my heater core replaced about 7 months ago due to it leaking. They had to remove the A/C lines to get it in and then recharge the A/C system.

Now when I have the A/C on it blows nice cold air, but when I come to a sudden stop (for some reason a gradual stop doesn't trigger it) the A/C unit IMMEDIATELY blows warm air as if the heater was turned on. After waiting for 20-30 seconds it will just begin to blow cold air.

At first I thought maybe the coolant was low, but now I'm not too sure because it works great unless I suddenly stop.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but how does "How to Eliminate a CEL after Removing a Catalytic Converter" help me with my A/C issue.

I'm in California so bypassing the removing the Catalytic Converter could be an issue with all the EPA and smoging every two years here.

So I have a vac leak. YIPPY for me!!! I'm assuming that since it started after my Heat Core was replaced that the problem lies around that area. Which is of course behind the dash and takes FOREVER to get to.

Should I first replace the check valves and pcv valves. Any recommendations on how to find out where the leak is coming from? Do I need to take it to a shop and smoke it out to make sure it's back there?

 

No shop, check the vac lines under the hood on the passenger side of the motor. Does the cruise work? Does the front axle engage 4x4 properly? Check everything vacuum related.

 

Does that include this?

 

If it makes it easier to implement I'll take it. I was thinking that these may help as well.
