I'll just leave this here...http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm

Folks on here swear by their trannies... might be a good place to get ideas on how to build one that you wont need to replace anytime soon.

J415 has a trans thread in the faq section with some good links for DIYers. Check out some of his links.

Also in the FAQ section, is MonteC's trans thread, on page six, he gives a list of parts for a pretty much bulletproof rebuild. (they were recommendations for a member that regularly towed a 7K trailer...) You could probably pass on some of the hard parts, if you don't tow/haul though.

Consider what you are considering. Rebuilding your trans is not a simple exercise, nor is it something you want to cheap out on, unless of course, you liked it the first time, and want to do it again.

that was the bumper that smashed thru the oil cooler and previous owner bypass'd it instead or just to hold the transmission fluid up..

Wow.... just.... wow.... the ignorance of some folks is an awe inspiring thing (no offense if it is a relative of yours).

I have had a similar experience: My sister's apartment complex, for whatever reason, is a hub of shadetree mechanics. This one guy decided (against my advice) that it would be a good idea to bypass the tranny cooler in pretty much the same fashion on his jaguar (circa 1995 model I believe). He then test drove it around the complex for about 20 mins before the thing locked up. No amount of "I told you so's" would suffice. Some people just have to learn the hard way.

I'm all for a little bit of redneck engineering, but you have to know what you're doing beforehand.

Gotta order torque converter next. just gotta master the meaning of stalls, identifying the lock up or non lockup, weight or no weight along with the code on the TC..the hi performance TC handles powers..so i have to think twice and more..
