Engine Missfire; Barely on the gas!
before you start splicing the PCM check these (I apologize if this was said, but I didn't want to go through 3 pages)
1. Inspect Ignition wires: if you have one with the slightest crack...it will be a missfire every time.
2. Inspect Cap/rotor: It would have to be REALLY old to get that bad.
3. Inspect Injector connectors: grab the connector (little black tab) and give a gentle pull. If they come off, it will be a missfire every time. Check the base of the black injector connector. if it does not have the small thin wire band that goes around the base of the connector (to ensure a tight fit) it will be a missfire every time.
I had that problem with my 1996 (stumbled when I pressed/mashed the gas). new injector connectors (EV1 style) fixed the problem.
If that stuff checks out, you mught want to get a fuel pressure gauge.

got a 99 1500 4x4 with 5.2 been doing same for a month or so. changed throttle position sensor, cleaned idle air control ( which really needed it), plugs, wires, dist, rotor, etc., checked vac lines, o2 sensors show ok with ohmmeter, checked batt voltage & cleaned posts............still same little miss when takin off. especially uphill. wonderin bout fuel pressure too. it acts like i need to change fuel filter if it was on a ride where i could. good luck, ill let u know, u let me
SOLVED!!!
Culprit was a Bad Distributor Pick-up Coil...
Thank you all for helping me get to the bottom of this problem.
If anyone has same problem as me, make sure when u change your dist. cap/rotor grab a pick-up coil also. Got mine for only $15 at autozone.
