Dual Exhaust

on my 97 318 i ran true duals with cats and cherry bomb glasspacks "18" i believe" with 90's at the bumper, and that was louder than you'd expect, because of the 90's it had a crazy blatttt when you got on it. But i kept it all the same expect the tips, now its 45's out the back with 4" 2ft slanted tips and she lost her blattt but is still louder than most of the truck around my area.

3 inch piping all the way btw for those that asked. I'm thinking deifinitely shorty headers, no cats whatsoever, an x pipe true dual setup, and then ive already got 5" tips about 1 1/2-2 ft long that im gonna go a little more than 45 off the back corners of the bumper. like 70 degrees if you want a guess. I do want that loud rap when im passin someone windin her out. Still torn for mufflers.. Leaning toward flowmaster cause with the cats gone it should be plenty loud and it seems like a more, i dunno, quality? exhaust. I know glasspacks burn out and it seems like 44s is the safer option. Any body seen these cherrybomp extreme things?> Theyre like mufflers but cherrybomb makes em?

I'm getting my true duals put on tomorrow . I've had the truck about a week and a half and have been dying with no pipes to listen to lol. Right now the truck has a flowmaster 1 into 2 with the stock cat and it's SO quiet I can't hear it from inside the truck. It's the little flowmaster too- thought it would be louder. I'll either run 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 pipe- whatever he has and 12' glass packs with 3 1/2 tips straight out the back. Cat will be gone. I see you're thinking about an x pipe. I personally don't really care for the sound of them on most cars. I have an x pipe on my Monte Carlo with a 540 BBC in it but honestly I think it would sound better if I got rid of the x pipe. It helps get a little more power out of it so I left it. Here's a vid of the Monte with the x pipe

dayummmmm....that monte sounds awesome. Have been waiting a good handful of years to get my hands on a similar monte, or regal. Love those cars.
At the start of the vid, I was like hmph, can't rlly hear it, so I turned it up...then you punched it, nearly knocked me backwards outta ma chair. Would love to ride in that monster :P Nice.
Oh, and I read a thread in here a while back about backpressure and scavenging, that basically convinced me to keep the cat on. With the heat, they promote the scavenging needed to pull the exhaust out of the motor. So if I read correctly, and all you're looking for is noise, sure take 'em out. But as far as efficiency and power, not to mention emissions, I'd stick with a high-flow cat at the minimum.
