don't take your tailgate off. it will make you get crappy fuel mileage unless you replace it with a net

If I remember that mythbusters show correctly there where no brands shown or mentioned.

If you want to save the most money stay completely stock as nothing will pay itself back.
Unlike you, i actually have money to try these things!

My E3 plugs have gained a .3 mpg savings.

So, now what? You watched a show and god knows everything on TV is the bible, what did you learn????? Do some real world testing and let's see your results. Nothing like putting your money where your mouth is!

BTW, I've raced and 4x4'ed for years, let's see how much of an expert you are! Nothing like a stocker to open up his yap for nothing!!! Keep watching your TV!

Telling trolls to stop is still feeding trolls.
Actually the Mythbusters Explained the reasoning behind the MPG difference in that episode Including the reasoning behind the tailgate issue. It had something to do with an aerodynamic effect caused by having the taigate/net there.

As for the tonneau cover, they didn't say the name of the cover, but it was a soft style cover with ribbing for support. They didn't test a hard cover, or a sloped aero cover.

A little defensive.

How do you know the E3's gained 0.3 mpg savings? A change in ambient temperature could have made a difference, a different fuel blend, or just changing the plugs to new one and cheap factory champions could have made the same change.

If you notice I was not the one who brought up the mythbusters episode. I was just defending the person who did.

My truck is not stock. I learned the hard (and expensive) way that mods are not worth it.

It's just what i have noticed with my truck, i know, not all trucks react the same but this is what i have noticed with mine.

You really need to go to school and learn a few things about different adaptations, you learned what from how many dollars? Dollars don't make experience. Live'n the life is the norm buddy!

Which way was wind blowing?

Learning from other peoples experience is a lot cheaper. Especially when those other people are paid to do just such things.

A fair number of members here do NOT like the E3 plugs, as after a couple thousand miles, they started having random misfire problems. But, as you said, everyone's truck is different, and what works for some, may not work for all, the reverse of that is also true though, just because it works for you, does not necessarily imply it will work for everyone.

Maybe I should rephrase my previous statement of "mods are not worth it". From personal experience, the experience of trusted others most (if any) gas mileage mods are not worth it. The only time they may help is when the factory stuff is very restricted, such as diesel trucks, and cars and trucks from the late 70's-80's. Often those mods require the removal of emissions equipment which is illegal and therefore not an acceptable option for the general public. If the vehicle is properly designed from the factory there is very little that can be done to improve it.

There are plenty of power modifications that will have an effect and plenty of other mods that have visual and other performance attributes, such as lifts, locker, body kits, stereos ect.
