Default Transmission!

Howdy DF.

About 2,000 miles ago I redid my transmission filter, the gasket, ect. It's been running great, now It's being a pain and running dry. I ran across this hose near the radiator and my step dad said it's apart of the transmission, and I believe him! It's been getting covered up constantly, and I was wondering if y'all could tell me which hose we're looking at here so I can go to autozone and order the part for it!

That's the check valve (or anti-drainback valve if you want to get fancy).... it's generally accepted as a very good idea to remove it (it likes to clog and eat up trannies).... look in the FAQ section for a write up on making a hose to go in its place, or, if you have the financial means, order a remote trans filter to go there (which will restore the functionality that the hose is supposed to provide, and you won't have to worry about it clogging)

So it being the way it is right now could be the reason my transmission fluid is being just thrown away? I mean I topped my fluid out when I redid everything, it shouldn't go dry after just 2, 000 miles.

I also edited the pictures, make sure we're both talking about the same hose.

Yup, that's it... goes in to the bottom of the radiator right? If so, that's definitely the one I'm speaking of.

That particular hose serves 2 purposes: deliver tranny fluid to the intercooler (which is inside the rad.) for cooling (or maybe it's the return line of that circuit...can't remember); And to keep the torque converter full to allow for a quick take off after start up.

The issue is that it's prone to clogging with tranny crap (friction material, etc.) thus impeding or cutting off the trannies cooling capability... and once the fluid gets hot enough, you're in the market for a rebuild.

I found this on autozone, would it be best to just make it myself or something whole?

I used eight inches of hose, and four hose clamps. (two at each end.) Less than five bucks.
