Default Frozen Lug Nut

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 I went to finally change the clutch disc in my rear end and one lug nut wouldnt budge and I ended up stripping it. I heated the crap out of it and tried pounding a smaller socket on but nothing worked. So I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and what they did to get it off. I have had trouble before with frozen lug nuts but I was able to finally break em free but this one just wont go and its pissing me off. I have welded sockets on to lug nuts before but I dont think I can.

I had striped mine once at the dragstrip. I had to drive back home on my slicks! Good thing I didnt get pulled over! I just got my
Craftsman Bolt-Out™ Damaged Bolt/Nut Remover Set
These have a reverse teeth that dig into the nut while you remove it. It worked perfectly for me. Here is a pic of them. You can get them at Sears or anywhere online.

You can also try the Gator Grip.

Soak the snot out of it with PB Blaster then use the bolt-out set from sears or an equivalent. Worked well for me on a stripped lug nut on my old GMC.

one option... pound a socket on there and use an extension to snap the stud by bending it up and down. easy to replace and it's probably buggered up any way.

I was replacing my rims and tires about 2 months ago. And I work with my grandfather on this stuff, one lug nut on the front driver side was stuck. We were using an impact gun socket with a 3-4 foot breaker bar. And the socket broke in half and he messed up his wrist bad. Had two surgeries since. And still has no feeling, he had severe nerve damage. Then the guy who was doing my lift drilled 30 something holes in the lug nut and got it off. Sorry for the long story, I just rambled on. lol

We had a stuck lug nut on our work truck one night at work, the truck has about 1 3/8th lug nuts on it, we put a 3/4in breaker bar with a 3 foot cheater bar and drove the truck forward with the socket on the lug nut and let the truck to the work, just weld a socket to it if it's stripped and let it idle off.

before you do much else to it, put the lugnuts back on, on either side of the stripped one, and make 'em nice an tight. then, try any of the suggestions above.

I saw a video somewhere where a guy did that to show how wheel locks didn't help. He tightened the 2 lugs beside the lock and just twisted the lock off.
