Default Custom (self fabricated) Air Hood Ideas

Hey all! So I'll try and make this quick. I've been wanting to try and make my own custom air hood for some time now - but other needs (i.e. plenum, rust etc) took priority. Well I just had the pleasure of getting some hail damage on my truck a day ago and now I'm back on the mission. Luckily, I found a used hood with good metal for $50 that I can now play with at my leisure. Have any of you built your own? If so, what lessons did you learn or what should I make sure to design into it? I'm looking to make it compatible with a 14x3. I want a big 'ole in-your-face scoop but can't decide if I should go with a shaker style (which seems easier) like this one...

Or to make a scoop and hood one piece like this one...

Any insight would be appreciated. Thx!

You are going to have to tread lightly here.
Most Rams do not look good with hood scoops, so finding a design that works and looks good is going to be tough.
But, more power to ya buddy!
I hope you get it worked out.

Something like yours is close to what I'm looking for - what does it feed into?
