All I plan to do is just drive it on the road... No hauling and maybe some minor off roading

Then you could probably remove the overload springs without any problems.

ok cool... next question if anyone knows off the top of their head.. when I take the helper springs off theres a bolt that goes through the main leaf pack and looks like it goes down to the block on the axle... Anyone know what size head it is? I was told 1/2" but my socket wouldnt fit on it

Probably a rusty 1/2". That bolt holds the spring pack together, so, make sure you have clamps holding the leaves before you start backing the bolt off, you will probably need to have the block out of the way as well, to get to the nut on the bottom. Use a six point socket that fits...... on both sides if you can... the 12 point guys will more'n likely just round 'em off.
