I need help with CCD error on overhead display
I have a 2001 that had been butchered by the previous owner. The wiring system has so many cuts, splices and dead ends(no kidding, there was an 8-gauge cable with a bare end left connected to the battery, jammed behind the ABS controller!!!).... Anyway, I have been re-splicing, and trying to heal some of the damage. One of the things attempted was the Overhead Console upgrade. I overtook the project and got it working.... Somewhat. When I first turn the key on, it does the little segment test, the a second or two later I get the "CCD" message. I have tried running jumpers from other pur/blk and wht/blk pairs, to no avail. My only real clue is on my other truck, which has a functioning overhead console computer, when I unplug the ambient temperature sensor, I get a reading of -40 degrees, but on this one I get a reading of 248 degrees until I get the CCD message, which leads me to believe there is a short in the temp sensor circuit. But I can't seem to find those nifty little wire harness to sheet metal anchors, and the harness is difficult to get to for error checking. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

No; this is of my doing. The previous owner had attempted it, and had the computer, but assumed the plugs were the same and thus, at purchase, I had no map lights. I bought the harness from a junkyard, spliced it together, and installed it as I replaced the cracked dash. Now, I have my map lights, and power to the computer, and when I do the little test of holing down both buttons it passes, yet after about three seconds of turning on the ignition, the unit displays "CCD". The only real reading I can retrieve before the error is that I have around 71 miles to empty on a full tank (My Lord, I hope not!!) and an outside temp of 248 degrees...

Do you know where the ambient temperature sensor module/driver is? I could check for a short much easier if I knew where the send went. I have a solid 5 volts to the sensor, and a slight continuity from the send to the ground.... Plus, I failed to mention earlier that the truck has the highline body controller... Thanks!
