I think the tone ring is supposed to have eight evenly spaced 'holes'??

Well, if so that would explain my no start issue then, right? Maybe the guy gave me the wrong flywheel?? The motor ran when he pulled it though. I'm ready to pull my hair out with this thing. Been working on this swap for over a week, most of it wiring and trying to get it started.

I haven't had one apart to be 100% on that. (maybe someone else will chime in?) But, looking at pics on various parts sites..... that's what it looks like.

Ill post a pic of it in a few. Took of the dust cover, and rotated the motor by hand to get it in view.

Those holes are drilled for balance...... I don't see anything that the crank sensor would read?

Was the engine out of a manual trans truck?

Oh, well ya learn something new everyday! Hmm, well would I be able to get the tone ring separate without the purchase of a flywheel? It was out of a manual.

I've swapped in a 96/97 5.9 into my 98 TJ. The only switch differences I found was you need to get the newer, electronic oil pressure sensor. The plugs are different of course, but that won't be a problem if you are using the 96 harness.

I also found the trans relay was wired differently from 98+, and the alternator power was wired differently (injector circuit versus dedicated IIRC).

Yeah, I'm using the dodge harness. Well the Jeep gray plug is in the computer, then the two dodge connectors, and everything spliced into c103 and c104. Then all the random stuff that popped up. Gonna make some calls today to some junkyards to see about getting a new flywheel. Hopefully I can find one and my no start issue will be fixed and I can get this jeep back together and drive it.

What did the flywheel come off of? We're doing a 96 5.2 in a buddies YJ with a 3.9 bellhousing and AX15. Using the 5.2 flywheel and clutch for it.
