Firing order is 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2. Number 1 is marked on the distributor cap, and it rotates clockwise. Check all the wires....... I know its a major pain....... but, make sure they are all correct.

Drivers side is, front to back: 1 3 5 7
Passenger side, front to back: 2 4 6 8

When I goofed on firing order, it was easier to just take all the wires off the cap, start with number one, and work my way around the firing order.

I put them in backwards once. You really know you are wrong because the wire ends will not fit flat on the distributor.

HOWEVER, your problem could be that you have a loose connection on the distributor or a spark plug. That would be a one cylinder MISS and it would not be very noticeable at idle. But you will notice when driving.

Check to make sure that you have the boot over the plug and it is locked in. I always give a bit of a tug to make sure.
