Default Exhaust dilemma

well I recently found a hole in my muffler, so i cut it out, and ran a section of 3" pipe (it just passed etest 2 weeks ago so i'm ok lol) and i've now discovered a hole in my cat as well.... i was debating on taking it off, punching the guts, and welding the hole, seeing as it's no bigger than a penny.... any thoughts on this? i really like the sound ... and it sounds REALLY good when cold... which is what it sounds like with no cat... and i'm kinda debating on what to do... so i was wondering what everyones thoughts are... if it truly is bad for the valves... i always thought as long as the exhaust is full with a tailpipe it would be fine because the O2 sensors would just adjust to the new flow...

The only issue you will run into is the next time you need to get inspected, and just how **** they are about it. If you 'just have to have a cat', and it doesn't have to be "all stock" (be glad you don't live in california...) Just get a magnaflow hi-flow cat to put in there. Lot less restrictive than the factory unit, and still legal in most places.

well that was my first idea but ... the $250 is too much for my budget right now... i'm still paying for the tranny aha... maybe i should just weld the hole?... or pay someone to?... i live in ontario and they are pretty **** on the cats... muffler is a little iffy, but it can still pass in proper running condition.

If budget is a concern, just hollow the damn thing out for a while, until you can get the money together to fix it. Deal with it then. Just, make sure you get it done before your next inspection is due.

not really. I used to weld rusty exhaust system every day. But, I had a REALLY nice Snap on Electric welder to play with......

Yeah, don't burn holes in it. That's counter productive.
