Did I just F up my 4x4?
Didnt know u wernt supposed to not use it on paved roads... I just got my truck a few weeks ago and wanted to try out the 4x4 to make sure it worked fine....So threw it in 4x4 and drove around my area for about 2-3 minutes.. (paved roads) going no faster than maybe 25mph...
Defiantly noticed a power loss, and a change in sound so I know its working...
Did i break something?
Also, I noticed when i shift back into 2h the 4wd light doesent go off right away....i have to drive a bit before it flips off.....is that normal?

probably not.. the CAD is vacuum actuated.. if it's been unused for any amount of time, it's conceivable that it is sticky.. use it a few more times.. this time in a straight line at speeds under 50mph, just slip it in for a mile or two, then slip it out.. most likely, it will get used to working again, and start reacting as it should.
If you didn't hear any expensive noises, you probably didn't break anything. Might have reduced their lifespan a bit, but hey, it's a learning experience.
The light behavior is indeed normal. Its controlled by the vacuum motor that locks the front passenger side axle sections together, so, a bit of delay coming on, and going off, isn't unusual.
By the way, don't use 4x4 on paved surfaces.
LOL. Ninjaed by Drew.

Once i shift out of 4 wheel drive it usually takes a few seconds for the light to go off on the dash. Don't worry. It's normal.

When I shift back into 2hi I pop it into reverse then back into drive and it turns off right away.
If I'm rolling I just take my foot off the gas for a second during the shift and it cuts right off.
