Default 2000 ram misses backfires and hesitates

I just gave the truck a tune up and replaced the heads. I figured that the cracks in the heads were the reason for the problem but the truck started to do the same thing 200miles after I replaced the heads. The truck will hesitate miss and backfire when you start it up and accelerate at normal speed. It starts to act up at 20mph but if you give it alot of gas it stops. It will also go dead if you start it up and let it idle for 3-5mins. If figure the icv could be going bad but that would not effect the truck when accelerating would it. I am pulling my hair out over this. I would appreciate any help or advise on thia issue.

Aren't intermittent problems fun?

Check your plug wire routing. There is a TSB for it in the FAQ section.

What plugs were in there, and what did you put in for round two?

I didnt follow the factory rewiring diagram when I did the tune up so I will try that and the original plugs I pulled out where champion but I went back with auto lite. I will let you know if the redirecting of the wire fixes the problem. Thank you for your responce.

Im leaning toward a bad O2 sensor, or bad coolant temp sensor.

Does it run fine for a couple minutes, and then start acting up?

when i start it up it will idle fine for about 3 mins then it start to make a sound as if the air box is not on like it is sucking in a lot of air and it will go dead or the motor will rev up suddently and then plane out. i made sure the air box was on properly and the gasket was in place and still the same noise. when i take off down the road when the truck has set for more than 10 mins it will start to miss, and wants to go dead at normal acceleration but if i punch it it stops and will usually run ok until i turn the motor off and let it set again. i had this same problem before i replaced the heads, wires, plugs, rotor button and distrubutor cap. now i notice a small vibration in the truck at idle and the check engine light is coming on. the code reader says its the #6 cylinder misfiring. i ran the wire to the factory specs and still the same problem. i also replaced the plug in #6 just to be sure and it still tripped the check engine light. i had the heads tested and valves setted before i installed them. i dont know what to do next short of taking it to the dealer and letting them shaft me. it never seems to be cheap when you visit them. next step would be to replace the o2's i guess but wouldnt they trip the check engine light. the reader didnt find a code for them?

I'm not getting what you are trying to say, why did you quote me and link a 3 year old vid of a ram?
