Default cap and rotor help!

My searches have been inconclusive, and the DIY didn't awnser my questions. I am fixing to do my plenum, and at the same time I want to do my cap, rotor, wires and plugs. What specific distributor cap and rotor do I need? And when I go to put the rotor in how do I make sure its in right? I understand I can mark it if I'm replacing the old one, but with a new one I can't do that. I also plan on doing my timing chain when I do this, any chain I should stay away from or get while I'm looking? Sorry about all the questions!! I would just rather do it right while I'm in there.

funny - that's what im doing this morning

in about an hour im going to take off my intake manifold, so i can take off my passenger side head, so i can fix a broken bolt in the exhaust manifold.

anyways - after a quick google i found this - it's a pretty good list of caps for the dodge ram 1500 w/ 5.9L

I prefer brass terminals to the aluminum ones. It seems to run a bit smoother.

The cap only goes on one way, there is a square and round anchor point where it mounts, and there is a number "1" imprinted on the cap that should be at about 8 o'clock.

The rotor button is easy, there is a groove on the shaft that out lines up with, just note the position of the old button, and put the new one on in the same orientation, minding the groove.

Alright thanks guys! For giggles, I pulled my plugs last night and discovered they were the Bosch platinums..those will be changed for sure, also any particular Performance wires? I'm also fearing breaking off an intake manifold bolt in the process..

Just go with a good quality set of wires. I recommend going at least 8mm wires, but, folks have different opinions on that score.

If you do a search on here you will find a few threads explaining that those kit's aren't any better than a cheap set of wires from autozone.
