i read also that it can be the abs module or the body module, not communicating with the pcm, or vice versa so on and so forth i unplugged everything turned it on plugged everything back up turned it back on and still no bus in the ododmeter

The no bus thing indicates the cluster isn't getting any input from the central timer module... The CTM is basically a network hub. It receives all the signals, and then distributes them accordingly, to whatever system needs 'em. My guess is, it isn't getting ANY signals, as the pcm sees a critical fault somewhere, so, trips the asd relay. (that's why you get no fuel pump, spark, or injector pulse.

Just for giggles, check your fuses....... specifically, the engine fuse in the PDC, and just 9 (I think) in the fuse block in the side of the dash.

Its gotta be something simple...... either a mismatched sensor, or something similar.

What year was the donor engine, and do you still have the one out of the truck? Wonder if swapping crank, cam, and TPS from the original onto the current engine would improve it's attitude any.....

lol already done, i swapped the crank sensor which just to double check i cross matched on autozone theyre the same from 98-2001 durangos which is what the donor motor is from, took the disi from the original motor onto the donor motor, and i changed the intake mani from the original motor seeing as how the durango has different setup for everything like the valve covers, and the intake filter configuration, plus i wanted to change the plenum gasket anyways, so that covers that

Swapping the dist may have been a mistake.... getting fuel sync correct is gonna be fun....

Pins 85 and 86 are the control circuit for the ASD relay. Pin 86 should have 12v all the time, pin 85 should show ground for three seconds at initial key on. Verify voltage at 86, and then see if you can verify ground. Do you have your meter with you yet??

Are the ground wires on the back of the passenger side head and valve cover connected properly to the firewall?

ah no forgot it this morning i am heading to the mtns today to spend some alone time with the gf i will check on monday and yes the thick one is attached to the head the skinny one is to the valve cover and both are grounded with the pcm to the cowl, and thats what it thought but would the disi cause the fuel pump not to come on and the no spark condition, i looked and could not find in the chilton manual anything about the asd relay or the no bus condition.

Enjoy your weekend. Say Hi to your gf for me, and when you get back, grab the 01 service manual from the faq section here.
