You could drop a 360 in there, it would bolt right up. Use the sensors from the 318, and it would probably even run..... not as good as it could, but, it would run. Slap a good tuner on it, and you would be down the road.

That said, So long as your engine didn't ingest any water while it was running...... It should be fine. If you already have bent/broken parts, the 360 would be a nice little upgrade. Figger 370 or so for a custom tune, whatever you pay for the motor, and probably some other miscellaneous stuff. (major tune up, as it doesn't get any easier than when the engine it NOT in the engine bay.....)

yeah just out of curiosity would my hyper tech tuner work with the 360? problem is is i dont know whether or not the engine did take in any water while it was running or not. everything happened really fast. thing is i go back to work tomorrow and was going to talk to the navy and marine corps releif society and see if they could give me a loan for the repairs. we will see what happens.

on another note where do i drain the transmisssion from and where is the filter on it? i still have to pick up the parts but i figured i could at least drain it tonight

Hypertech will work on the 360 or the 318, but will read your current pcm and curve the fuel based on what size engine the pcm thinks is in there, not necessarily the actual engine in there.

The SCT can be custom tuned to overwrite the pcm.

Trans is drained by dropping the pan. Filter is under there as well. Careful, there is a LOT of fluid in there, and if you aren't careful, you take a bath in it. Leave the four corner bolts in, loosen two of them up just a bit, loosen a third a fair bit, take the fourth all the way out, and pry down on the corner of the pan. (but, don't bend it....) fluid will GUSH out..... have your catch pan ready..... Filter is only two torx bit screws I think.

LOLOL. Yep. familiar with that. Most of my friends went into the navy. I was the only 'smart' one. I went into the Air Force.

There are a LOT of military, or ex-military folks around these here parts.......

I was in back in the early 80's. Back when there was still a Strategic Air Command. Spent a lot of time watching B-52's rust.
