Default need to haul 1200 pounds of dirt...

Told my friend I would help him haul a load of 1100-1200lbs of dirt this weekend..

Not thinking, I realized I only have a 1500...

Is that pushing it? its only about a 15-20 minute drive.

I don't want to f-up my truck.

I think the max payload on our trucks is around 1700 lbs. It should be fine. I've put about 1200 lbs in my S10 before that's lowered 3' and it was fine lol.

That's a misconception and basically false advertising if you really want to get down to it. Make two trips, you wont be sorry in the long wrong.

You'll be fine. If you want to play it safe, you can make two trips as zman said. If it means anything, i've had about 2500 pounds in the bed of mine. That was definatly too much, but i didnt have a trailer at the time. Plus i only had to travel 1-1.5 miles. Anyway, mines still good.

If it fits in the bed, put it in the bed and don't worry about it.

Y'all are ballsy.

It's pushing it.

it's not that the truck is gonna snap in 2, it will hold the weight, but it's going to drive like ****. Bad brakes, slower corners with lots of body roll, **** poor acceleration and mileage. I too would make it a 2 trip run.

Don't use overdrive.......

I hauled 5200 pounds of dirt in my truck ONCE. (3/4 ton, and yes, I have paperwork to prove it.) Mine didn't really seem to care it was back there. Sure rode a hell of a lot better.

If you do it in one trip load as much as you can ahead of the rear axle to distribute the weight more evenly.
