If the plenum isn't fixed yet. Do that.
SCT tuner.
1.7 roller rockers.
headers
performance y pipe.

That should wake things up for ya.

If you've managed to save $1,000 and are looking to spend it, definitely do the plenum fix and the timing chain. Other then that, save it for when the truck breaks down on you so you can fix it...because it will when you don't want it to.

Yeah, I always seem to forget that doing my timing chain and gears was probably the most effective 'performance mod' I have done to my truck...... The difference was amazing.

I couldn't believe the difference it made when I did mine either. Would never have guessed it could make that much of a difference.

Really...

Is the stock timing chain that sloppy? I have a spare double roller, maybe I should put it on the 98 Ram, but it has less than 90K on it. Problem with me is if I do a chain, I figure just a few more bolts and I have heads and a cam....

It starts off so innocently with just a couple of bolts...I suffer from that same illness and I'm NOT looking to be cured of it!

Did you guys use the timing chain from the parts store? Did you use the kind that has a chain or the kind that has 2 big gears and 2 small gears instead of a chain?

I picked up the SA something or other .25 inch double roller from advance. It was under 50 bucks. Went right on, and looked to be a quality part. I had 165000 miles on the original, and it was stretched pretty good. (morse style chain.)
