Default Towing?

I'm getting ready to move to a new state. My question is can I tow my truck on a car dolly without destroying the dolly. The dolly is rated at 4500 lbs. Towing would save me big bucks. Thanks guys

Welcome to DF. First, before anything else, please read this.

These trucks, especially the extended/quad cab 4x4s, are usually just a bit over 5000 lbs. Sometimes more. It'll definitely be over the dolly's rating.

I will move this to the 2nd gen section for you.

x2. Also is the dolly bed itself rated for 4k lbs? or are they factoring in the entire vehicle to be towed? If the dolly bed itself is rated for 4k then you only really need to factor half the trucks weight.

Ive got a tow dolly and ived towed all kinds of crap with it, but im unclear how they rate them, id be curious to know.

And if you do two the truck if its auto, disconnect the driveshaft and tie it up to the frame.
