well the mechanic that inspected my truck for the state inspected Failed the upper ball joint, the wheel bearing, and brake hardware just as a few things. I've been fixing things and today is the day to fix the ball joint and the wheel bearing. So heres where the problems start. He wrote on the sheet LF upper bearing. I assume left front as in drivers side. Then he wrote RF wheel bearing, so I assume Right front or passanger side. Then he told me with the brake hardware that a clip that holds my brake pads not the caliper is hitting the rim when im turning. I hear it bad when turning to the right. He wrote Left brake hardware on the inspection. I was all about to change my drivers side upper ball joint and I suddenly think "oh **** is he talking about left and right from inside the vehicle or standing in front of it looking at it. It looks to me the passanger side is the one hitting the wheel so I assume hes refering the the vehicle as he is standing out of it looking at it. What do you all think. I tried to call the shop eariler they must be closed for the 4th
thats what I would think also but I can clearly see where there are cuts in the passanger side rim from the brake clips and he has LF brake hardware. My buddy use to be a mechanic and he said he was always taught to specify Driver side or passanger side
well he had it had written on the sheet I just want to make sure I dont replace the ball joint on the wrong side and the wheel bearing on the wrong side.
if he has a license to inspect a vehicle he should know left is drivers side and right is passengers side. anything related to a vehicle is when your sitting in the seat.
if you are insure check for play in ball joint and bearing, not difficult

If I recall correctly the way I check for play is shake the top and bottom of the wheel and if any noise its ball joints?
Watch for movement that shouldn't be there, then figger out which piece is moving.... and replace it. Helps to have a friend give you a hand (or two) here.
