what differnce will reusing my stock lifters make on using that 509 cam would that let it work properly also will it lower the rpms the cam really kicks in at because with pulling a trailer a stall converter is out of the question but i am mainly looking for low end torque

Refresh my memory please, what are the cam specs? What RPM range is it designed to operate in? Link if possible??

Lifters won't make a difference on the cam.

That cam is not for low end torque,I had one that was a little "tamer" then that in an earlier carburated 5.9 and it had no business towing....it was happier above 3000rpm with the tires spinning....and mopar "purple shaft" cams were for older LA engines.....sell this cam to someone with a smallblock dodge car.....thats where it belongs

Doubt it will work anyway, probably physically too long due to the mechanical fuel pump that gets driven off the LA cams. Can't run a flat tappet with hydraulic rollers.

No. That won't work for towing at all. You won't be able to pull much of anything with that cam, and your truck won't be useful as a truck at all. That cam is for an entirely different purpose than what you have in mind. Sell it on Ebay, buy something more suited to your purposes.

Default .509

I ran that purple shaft in my 71 Swinger bracket racer. Had to run 3500 stall to keep it loose till it started making power. My setup was a .060 over 360 la with ported iron heads with 2.02 intakes and 1.60 exhaust valves with a victor intake and 750 double pumper with 4 corner idle adjustment. With 1.6 rockers that cam will be radical at idle. too much overlap to idle clean and it would be a dog without a lot of converter. You could flip it easy at a profit at forabodiesonly.Get a cam with a short duration if you want low end grunt and towing torque and advertised lift I wouldnt run much more than .444 with 1.6 rockers. The .509 is not for your app. DD

Nothing about that cam is going to work I don't care what the specs are...It's flat tappet cam for an LA.

It's wrong from the snout on back. Punch you stupid friend in the nose and get your money back.
