Default Engine knock

My truck just started making a loud knocking sound coming from the front of the engine.
Same as this truck (less the deisel sound).

Thats a rod knock. That hurts my ears. Time to drop the pan and see how much play you have there. If it's that bad my guess is alot.

look at what the second vid caption is , " turned out to be a crack'd flexplate" chrysler is known for this problem , make sure you check it first by pulling either the starter or the inspection plate at the bottom of the trans and see if can see a crack or move the ring gear at all seperate from the rest of it. or a long screwdriver or stethescope on the oil pan and trans bellhousing to see where the noise is loudest.

I didn't even notice that. That is def a possibility. I haven't seen many Dodges in my shop with that problem but that would be better than a rod knock.

I was able to pin point the problem to a lifter on cylinder #1. I changed the oil and started the engine to see if the would get the lifter to work again and the noise is now intermitten. At idle it appears normal with a very light tap until I rev to 2k rpm or above then the knocking comes and goes spuradically not in sync with the rpm given. back to idle then its normal.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Thanks

Stop driving it.

If it is knocking loud, it is rebuild time......

Good oil pressure won't last long...... Need to find out where the noise is coming from, and just what exactly is making it. Just a wooden dowel makes a decent stethoscope.
