Default Best way to disconnect steering coupler?

Hey, guys. Going to do the Ram Solid Steering Fix this afternoon. Want to do the repair without removing the column. What's the best way to disconnect the steering coupler from the steering column? Should I just disconnect the coupler at the column and the steering gear, disconnect the u-joint piece, etc.?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Should just be sorta bolted into place..... Pull that out, and with a bit of effort, it should collapse enough to get it out of the way.

Nut and bolt, one up top and one down by the steering gear.

zman, not to doubt you but after seeing the haynes service manual, im more inclined to believe you guys on DodgeForum then manuals and instructions. My E-Fan instructions were almost useless except the wiring diagram. Pictures are worth 100,000 words imho. However, this product does seem to be an exception as the owner is on this forum, helps out, and sure knows what the heck he is talking about.

If you notice my sig, I have a Rock Solid installed on mine. So I know the instructions are good, and has pics. I believe they even have a video on the website

Yeah, all the pics and instructions provided by the manufacturer are for install of the bushing after the column is removed. I may be slow, but I have the two bolts out of the steering coupler--the one by the end of the column and the one at the steering gear, but cannot get the damn coupler off of the column end. What am I doing wrong?!

That's just so they could take better pics. What's the difference? It's still the same. Just a lot tighter. And btw, it would take about a half hour to remove the column.

As far as the coupler goes, it must be seized on. Try prying it apart with a screw driver. You'll see a slot, it's kind of like a battery clamp.
