Default Cat-back exhaust under $200

My exhaust rusted out, all the welds on the hangers snapped leaving gapping holes all over my exhaust. It looks like it has been replaced before, it has a cherry bomb single in dual out muffler (rusty as well). Im looking to replace everything behind the cat as cheap as possible. I would really like to get a nice flowmaster setup but dont have the cash.

Found this one on ebay, what do ya think?

I would check first and see if there are any custom exhaust shops in the area. We used to do true duals on trucks for under 200 bucks. (manifolds back, no cats, but, we did have those available as well.)

Nice, i'll have to check around. There is a place in town called twisted pipes. Thought it was a smoke shop at first haha. The manifolds and cat are all good, only rusted from muffler on back, even the exhaust tips rusted out. Lost one doing 75 down the highway and found the other hanging while fueling up haha.

I'd wager somebody hacked the stock SS exhaust and welded up some aluminized pipe from the muffler back. Stainless will wear out in heavy salt areas, but then your y pipe and pre muffler should be showing the same symptoms. Magnaflow is all stainless, btw.

Ya im in wisconsin, plenty of salt around here... Thinking i might go with a flomaster 40 or 44 series muffler and dump it out the side with a decent looking tip. Seems to be a pretty cheap/ easy solution. Will paint help the exhaust survive the salty winter? I think it would look cool to have black exhaust on the black truck.

Ceramic paint would be the only stuff that might hold up to exhaust temps, I think they make it in black. VHT makes a brand for headers, should work on exhaust pipe too. That paint is tacky/sticky until it is heat set, so handle the parts with care. A good 15 minute spirited drive should do it. It won't keep the condensation from rusting out the inside, so I still recommend stainless pipe.

Don't even bother with engine enamel.

+1.... It's like the doors on these rigs. You can wax the outside until your blue in the face, and they will still rot from inside out.

A standard Flowmaster isn't typically SS and their SS line only has a 10 year warranty

It also appears they haven't exactly mastered flow yet:

Maybe you should try "wax off"

God bless Texas for the hot sunshine.

LOL, I have tried, I've had nothing else to do the last few months.

And up in NH even stainless rots. Rotting exhaust or vehicle? Or 150 degrees, hmmm let me see. LOL
