Could be...... The band adjustment procedure is in the 01 service manual, you can download that from the FAQ section here.

I tried posting the list, but, the formatting gets really screwed up, as to be almost useless.......

Here is a download link for it though. It's just a little text file, but, currently, it is behaving what I consider "funny", so, if someone could grab the file, and make sure it is actually THERE, I would appreciate it.

Yep. If the drum is scored then the band is shot and will not adjust and if it does will not last much longer. If you try to run the trans with a damaged band you will be spending money on a direct clutch drum.

Either try a flex band or pull the transmission and rebuild it.

Spent yesterday pulling transmission. 105 degrees outside, so had to stop and take a number of breaks to soak up some AC. Spent today reading a long way through this forum. Very good info posted here. Lots of guys giving their valuable time to help others. I greatly appreciate it.

I saw a list of parts posted by MonteC back in April. It included a 5 gear and a 6 gear Planet. Does the original have a 3 gear planet? What would the change to 5 or 6 do for me? I have decided to spend waht it takes to get this done correctly. Also, what is WITTRANS #22139EA Steel Module? I cannot find a reference to "steel module" in the copies of trands service manuals that I have. Also looking at #22555AGK Direct Drum Kit (changing from 3 clutch to 5 clutch drum). Will this be a good step?

Thank you again everyone for the info.

It will only see occasional use, but usually towing - car trailer. Car trailer loaded (last time I checked) weighed about 10,500 pounds. Trips normally 750 to 900 miles.

I think you are exceeding your tow rating by a pretty good margin there...... if you do that on a regular basis, you need a heavier duty truck.

Ah, cool. It works. Thanks. The upload site I was using was exhibiting odd behavior, so, I could tell if it was really there or not.
