Default 95 5.9 parts list!

95 Dodge ram 1500 4x4

Hey guys so im going to do my plenum fix here pretty soon and i need a good parts list. I am just having some oil consumption but no spark knock and no misses or symptoms of a clogged cat. Its just really dirty in the IM and I really dont know if my truck is underpowered as ive never driven a 5.9 before.

So im going to get the hughes kit and the 180 t-stat off the hughes site.

What other parts am i going to need?

i have a budget of about 300 bucks max. my water pump is still going so I was thinking about maybe just a good timing chain and sprockets?

I have a full set of metric and sae sockets and ratchets:
any other tools i need?

thanks in advance guys!

Ok heres my suggestion
Order this plate http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE...spagenameZWDVW

Then order the felpro kit(summit has it for $25)
Order a tune up kit....I reccomend this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-867815CR/
New bypass hose great thing to change while that far in it
Valve cover gaskets also
TB gasket, gonna have to order this as most local auto stores do not carry it
PCV valve and the hose that connects it to the manifold
An oil change and filter
Coolant

Yep timing chain is good idea(dont forget a gasket)
I would also pick up some loctite
Sealant for the intake manifold, cork gaskets are not worth using
thats what I got on the top off the head

Check the local parts stores for prices on gaskets and such as well. Might end up being cheaper than ordering online, as there is no shipping involved.

I just recently did a tune up so i will check the plugs to make sure they are not fouled.

What kind of timing chain and sprockets should i get? double roller? any specific brands?

would this be a good replacement?

also since i guess i have to take off the water pump, are there any wallet friendly replacements that are going to be more reliable than the one thats already working on the truck?

thanks guys

Im going to be diving into the plenum this week so far I have:

Gaskets:
-Plenum Plate gasket
-Valve Cover Gaskets(do these need RTV?)
-TB Gasket
-Timing Set Gaskets
Am i Missing any gaskets?

-Cloyes Double Roller Timing Set
-Master Pro Select New Water Pump
-Oil Change
-2 gallons of coolant
-RTV Sealant x2

going to rent a harmonic balancer puller.

am i missing anything else?

I would get a bypass hose

Thermostat gasket

Your valve cover gaskets should be rubber with a steel core, they are reuseable and do not need RTV.

If you dont have the FSM downloaded I would reccomend downloading it, its somewhere on this site, I think in the FAQ section but Im not sure.

I have a few questions about the timing sprockets and lining them up. Can i adjust my timing for more low end torque or should i just keep it stock? The timing set i got has the 3 keyway adjust for 4 degree's of advance and retard.

Mine also had provisions for + or - 4*.... I installed it straight up though, as I didn't want to have any potential for fuel sync problems.
