i would like to know the pros and cons of welding a rear end i know nothign about it other than it makes both tires spin at the same rate, i plan to use the vehicle on the street
Pros- you won't get stuck, you'll drift around every turn, and you'll do perfect burnouts.
Cons- you could snap your axle, you won't be able to turn very well without spinning your tires, and you'll eat the crap out of your tires. Not good for street driving.
No go if a street driver, it would be one thing it if was only driven to and from the trails, or if it was a drag/fun truck where driveability is sidelined to performance
Welded gears will suck on the street..... cornering will be interesting, on slippery stuff (wet streets....) your truck won't want to turn, it will want to continue going straight... There is a reason folks don't use spools on the street, which is effectively what you will have. Please don't do that.
My truck is my daily driver and I recently put the Lock-Right locker in it. It is surprisingly street friendly. Even when its wet outside it won't break loose around a corner if I drive like a normal person. But if I do give it some gas it becomes a 7000lb toy
So question.. How do you check if your Limited slip is working right ? Im not sure if mine still works.. However when i turn sharp and floor the gas pedal my rear end does fish tail, and when making u-turns the rear does spin if i step on the gas hard.
