Default Fuel Problem Please Help

hey guys, so i go out to leave from work, and truck wont start, pump aint kickin on. so i get it towed, and i tried it when i got home after the tow, and it started. so i went to get a little gas, and it wouldnt start again...so i got towed again... and thats where i am. so you guys think its the pump itself? or a wiring problem? let me know what to do please. its not a pressure problem, runs fine when it will start, it will fire off for like .5 secs and then die due to the pump no coming on. let me know. thanks guys.

Swap the fuel pump relay, with the horn relay. See if it doesn't wanna be nicer to you.

Before you install it... verify the integrity of the wiring.....

oh and the reason i kinda believe its the pump and not the wiring is cuz, i had 0 pressure on the rail when i depressed it. if it was a wiring problem wouldnt i still have a little lefted over pressure?

Depends on the last time the pump ran..... pressure bleeds off over time... sometimes quickly..... (which is a pain. )

Basically, just check and make sure you actually GET power back to the pump, whether it runs or not...... Should run for three seconds as soon as you turn the key to ON, and then quit, if you actually crank the engine, it should run as well. If you get power back there, but, the pump still isn't running, replace it.

Advice: Dont do this job by urself, especially if the tank if 3/4 full, or it will take u 5 hrs to do it like it did me, and you are completely exhausted.

Yeah, the fuel pump seldom fails when the tank is mostly empty.... Either that, or folks first response when things get wonky, is to fill the tank. Lends a lot of interest to life....

Glad ya got it fixed.

Glad to hear you have it fixed. I have been putting mine off for the exact same reason, too much fuel in the tank. Should be easy to solve that problem but I haven't been driving it that much.
