Default low voltage output

I was working on my oil filter ,when I shorted out the main terminal on my alternator. It sparked pretty good. The alternator checks out ok, but I only am getting 12.8 volts output, which should be putting out around 14 volts. I haven't been able to plug in an analizer as of yet.Can anybody make some suggestions as to what may be causing this low voltage condition?

May have toasted a diode..... which 'should' show up when you test the alt..... if alternator voltage is the same as battery voltage, you may have killed the regulator, which, unfortunately, is in the PCM.

And how the hell did you do that? The oil filter is 2 and a half feet away from the alternator.
