Had the same issue. I had to replace my TPS. Easy and cheap fix.

You cannot idle in overdrive.

Are you speaking of a fluctuation in cruising speed while in overdrive?

Think he is talking about a momentary increase in RPM while cruising.

Yep, TPS. About 30 bucks and 2 screws, located on the driver side throttle body.

Yes it is a momentary fluctuation in rpms's at cruising speed, the speed does not change, you can hardly feel it but you can hear it in the exaust. 100-300 rpms. changed tps, cleaned tb, adjusted tv cable, new plugs, new wires, new dist cap and rotary button, replace tran fluid and filter.

Check the electrical connections at the trans, might just be a bad connection there... May also be a failing TCC solenoid.

What they all said. My 1996 did the same thing. It doesn't hurt anything.

Make sure that you get a factory TPS from the dealership. Sometimes the cheap aftermarket sensors from napa/autozone are just as bad as a broken stock part.
